I’ve studied with a number of other breathwork practitioners and, even based on one class with her, I’d say Lucy is definitely the best one I’ve found so far!I love Lucy’s approach to breathwork: it’s straightforward, simple and down to earth, but with the potential for powerful personal growth and learning, even in one session. I love how Lucy also grounded the work within her extensive wider embodiment knowledge and experience. I felt safely held and supported throughout the class, with a lightness of touch, but deep professionalism, care and somatic trauma-awareness.

What Happens in a Connected Breathwork Group?

  • Opening circle and a check in with how people are feeling/what they are bringing.

  • Setting and sharing of intentions if relevant. Sometimes people find it helpful to think about
something they want to let go of or invite in
to their life, to explore an unhelpful pattern or to bring
a question about an issue they are
wrestling with in their life. It can also be powerful to not bring
any specific intention but be curious and trust whatever arises in the session.

  • In some sessions there may be embodied movement/dancing to music. I believe breathwork works
most powerfully when it is a fully embodied process. Movement helps to warm up, shake out and
energise the body in preparation for the breathwork.

  • Introduction to Conscious Connected Breathing and how it works on the 4 levels: physical,
emotional, mental and spiritual. I will give a demonstration of the technique and we will practice it
    altogether.

  • I bring a trauma-informed approach to breathwork and there will be a focus on learning how to
stay self-regulated throughout the session. We will do some resourcing. This involves connecting
with the experience of something internal (e.g a bodily sensation) or external (e.g a person or a
place) that evoke a sense of safety and well being.

  • The breathwork takes place lying down on a yoga mat and is guided by music. This is a specially
curated playlist that intentionally evokes various emotional responses and is designed to stimulate
your nervous system in different ways (e.g it may encourage upregulation or downregulation.)

  • The Breathwork lasts approximately 1 hour. It starts with a short body awareness/relaxation to
help you arrive in your body and to become aware of the breath. There is then
     around 45 mins of
connected breathing plus about 15 minutes integration time which is as equally important as the
    active breathing part.

  • My role is to help you to keep on track with the breathing and to guide you throughout the
process. I am also there to offer support with any difficult emotions that may come up.

  • The use of touch is part of this practice but is only ever used with your consent. For example, it
may involve me holding someone’s hand, touching the chest or belly to support deeper breathing
or holding the head or feet, and is used for reassurance, grounding and to support deeper release.

  • You are encouraged to surrender as much as you can to whatever comes up in the process whether
this be on a physical, emotional, mental or spiritual level. Breathwork is very different for each person and each breathwork session you have can be different from the last. Sometimes the session can be very physically orientated with a lot of sensations and energy moving around the body; at other times, it’s about having new insights about a dilemma you are facing or experiencing states of elation, gratitude or peace. The beauty of this practice is that there is no way to get it wrong! Anything and everything is welcome.

  • Sharing Circle to explore what came up for you and integrate your experience. This is optional and
you are welcome not to share anything but talking about your experience can support integration.

  • The session finishes with some grounding to help you transition safely back into the world outside
and after care information is provided.
